I am very proud to have been appointed as your Club President for the next two years.
We are very lucky to have such an excellent membership of players both for outdoors and Short Mat, where members can enjoy the competitive County and League games whilst other members just simply want to roll up or take part in friendly matches, either is fine, we cater for all.
There are now more of our ladies entering County competitions than ever before which is to be applauded. We always have a very full fixture list and whether it be outside play or playing short mat I would encourage members to enter their names for both home and away games. Club days are always well supported and provide an excellent way to bring members together. If we are to continue with home games it is important to have the away games as well. Hosting other clubs at home is important as is visiting other clubs, meeting other bowlers and seeing how different clubs are run.
Whilst we have a very healthy membership, we must continue to try and recruit younger members who can take the club forward with new ideas whilst hopefully retaining some of the traditions of the club.
We also have a great many members who take on a volunteering role, without these volunteers the club could not run as excellently as it does now. I say to these members, please don’t ever think that you are not valued, your contribution to the club in whatever role you undertake is greatly appreciated, the club needs you, my grateful thanks go to you all.
We have had a very good short mat season and now look forward to outside play in the lovely summer that we hope to have. I send good wishes to all members and hope you all have a good and successful season.
